Security at an “Open House”

(Ontario)

Question:

I had prospective visitors leave when I asked for ID. They thought that this was an invasion of their privacy.

Answer:

Yes, indeed it is an invasion of their privacy. And their entry into the house is an invasion of the privacy of the homeowner.

RECO does suggest two security items for open houses:

1) sign in registration, and

2) production of ID.

Covid and Post Covid
