Question:
Does it make sense to have the Landlord meet actual Tenants?
Answer:
I think it makes good sense. It’s just like getting married before a blind date. It’s one thing to agree to the date, but another thing entirely, to agree to get married. It’s much easier to get a divorce than get rid of a Tenant in Ontario.
There are lots of VP’s of major corporations that I would not like to have as tenants. The worst thing about them is that they want to fight about everything. Many lawyers out there too are just too litigious. Many good people as well.
How do you tell the difference: you meet with them briefly. Looking specifically for someone who is “nice, respectful and will take care of the place as if it were their own”.
