How to “Register” an Offer (Ontario)

Question:

How do you register an Offer in Ontario?

Answer:

Registration of an Offer is not a defined term in the Act, the regulations or the rules.

Having said that there must be some kind of communication of the existence of an Offer. That can’t take place until it’s actually signed.

The communication must be in writing. That means letter, courier, telegram, fax email or text will be sufficient. However, the document must contain the registrant’s name, status and brokerage. Not everyone has a signature line on a text. If not, then it runs the risk of being disqualified.
